Seb turned two!

We had some family over for a pizza party and Seb had lots of fun!

He was so cute when everyone sang to him. He had a big grin and clapped and blew out his candles when the song was over.

Of course, he had no interest in actually eating any cake or ice cream. This boy has much better things to do than eat.

The doctor said our little two-year-old is in the 100th percentile for height (which is kinda weird because we thought the 99th percentile was the upper limit)! He has always been so full of personality and is constantly making us laugh. He is an amazing dancer and always comes up with new moves. He is very stubborn and knows exactly what he wants. If I ever put him down at the store or anywhere he bolts off running, not looking back. He always has boundless energy and will not sit still... which makes sacrament meeting VERY difficult. Even though he tends to be a little "spirited" at times, he is an absolute sweetheart. He loves giving hugs and kisses and adores other kids. Somehow this kid loves to be social even though his parents are more introverted. Happy birthday Seb, we love you!

GIRL!!!

I'm 20 weeks along and we recently found out we are having a baby girl! I think we were both pretty shocked because for some reason we just assumed it would be another boy. I hope Sebastian is ready for a baby sister...

Halloween

Well first off, here are a couple of pics of last year's Halloween costume experience...

This kid just HATES costumes! We are cruel and forced him to put his monster costume on even though he was terrified of it and screamed bloody murder the entire time.

Here he is with mommy after he managed to rip his costume off. The whole experience was pretty traumatic for him.

So he went trick-or-treating in his skeleton pjs.

Here is the crew. We forgot to get him a little bucket for his candy so our brother-in-law came up with this large girly basket. He didn't understand why we didn't go into the houses at first but caught on to trick-or-treating pretty quickly. He very seriously took a piece of candy and put it in the basket. I think he had a really good time actually.

First off, I don't know if this picture does it justice... but Seb has the worst sandal tan ever! Pretty funny. Don't mind his lack of pants. We found the coolest park the other day! Sebastian and a couple of his buddies out here ran around and played, loving every minute of it. It is seriously huge and has tons of stuff for little ones to play with. Too bad we didn't find this place earlier.

Justin's family came to see us and we went to see the Statue of Liberty. Trying to get Seb to sit still on the ferry was quite a task.

I have been scolded for my lack of updating so here are a few random pictures from the summer so far. We have had some good weather so we've been going to the beach as often as we can. Seb really likes it! When he got over his fear of the ocean, he decided he LOVED it. The only problem is he tries to go in too deep and doesn't quite realize the little waves have the force to knock him down. I had to drag him away yesterday as he waved bye-bye to the water. We have also had some crappy weather and Seb has found ways to entertain himself inside.

This boy is very stubborn, "spirited", active, and full of energy! He also can be a sweetie pie, especially when he gets tired at night and gets all lovey and cuddly. He has been able to spend a little more time with other kids around his age. It's funny to watch him because he will just walk right up to them and try to hug them or sit as close as possible. No shyness there! We're having a great time out here.

Jersey Shore

We drove from Utah to the Jersey shore two weeks ago. We live right on the shore and it is really pretty! Here are some pictures of the area that I stole from Justin's sister Jessica (who is out here with us!).

This is the apartment complex we are living in. It's really fun because there are little restaurants and shops beneath the apartments.

We have been taking lots of walks on the boardwalk.

And here is Seb with his only cousin Maddie! It was so cute he put his arm around her for the picture.

Sebastian loves the carpet in the apartment (we have wood floors in our house in Utah) As soon as we got here he pretty much abandoned crawling... finally! He is also about to get his third tooth.... finally! He will be 16 months tomorrow.

We visited my parents one last time before moving to New Jersey for the summer. We went to the San Diego Zoo but Sebastian didn't enjoy it much. He had a little fever and wasn't feeling well.

These pictures are a month or two old but I haven't been taking many pictures lately, so here ya go.

Sebastian loves his blanky, he always tries to pull it out of the crib. I planned to take his pacifier away at six months, then at a year, and now that he is 15 months old he loves it more than ever... someday I'll do it!

Sorry for the blurry picture. This guy loves to climb everything. He learned to climb a stair before he could even crawl. He climbs onto our very tall bed and gets on the chairs to climb onto the kitchen table. I have to watch him every second so he doesn't fall off of a high surface.

Despite his new walking skills, Sebastian is still crawling most of the time. He just really loves to crawl. He will walk when he feels like it but I have a feeling his crawling days might last a while longer. He is one stubborn kid. The doctor tried to get him to walk and said he was as stubborn as a mule!

Sebastian finally decided to give walking a try! He really loves crawling and has been able to stand by himself but hated the idea of walking. Over the past couple of weeks he has taken two or three steps here or there (with lots of coaxing from us). Yesterday I wasn't even paying much attention to him and he just started standing up and walking out of nowhere. He was giggling and loving it! He would walk, fall down, get right back up, and start all over again. Hope he keeps up the good work! He gets very distracted by the camera so I only got one attempt on video.

We went to our Vivint regional party yesterday. (Apx is now Vivint) It was at the new Provo Beach Resort in Riverwoods... actually a pretty cool place.
Sebastian rode the carousel twice.
We did some bowling and traded off holding cranky sebastian.

We celebrated Justin's birthday in San Diego! Justin is the best husband and daddy. He works hard, is very helpful, and very smart (did awesome on the LSAT!!). We love him!

Sebastian has brought so much joy to our lives this past year! We could not love him more. He is always making us laugh and smile. He is constantly on the go, getting into every cupboard and drawer. He loves to dance and give kisses and high fives. He is such a silly goose! And after a year of waking up several times during the night, he finally started to sleep eleven hours straight! I hope this lasts:) But of course he has been worth every bit of lost sleep. We love you Sebastian!

Sebastian found Justin's shirt on the floor and somehow figured out how to put it on.

Also, he turned eleven months yesterday! I can't believe my baby will be a year old soon. Here are some things he has been loving lately...

-dancing every time he hears a good beat
-eating big people food
-yanking the ornaments off of the Christmas tree
-standing on his own for a few seconds and then sitting as soon as he realizes he isn't holding onto anything
-crawling over to other babies at church (he is very social)
-pointing, clapping, waving bye-bye (only when he's really in the mood)
-climbing onto (and off of) everything he can
-taking only one nap a day

He has even slept through the night a few times lately. This is awesome for him because he pretty much has been waking up every three hours at night since his birth.

His first little tooth is barely visible but he managed to fall and hit it on the tub. It started to bleed and stuff so I hope the poor tooth is alright!

My mom, dad, and sister came in to town last weekend so we took some non-professional family pics. My cousin did a good job but we couldn't expect her to work miracles;) These are some that will NOT be used in any Christmas cards. I'm still debating whether I will send cards out this year given the pictures I have to work with...I actually like this one better than the one my family chose. Trust me, none of them were perfect.

This month I have been really busy...

mastering my crawling skills

We haven't been up to much lately. Sebastian is just adjusting to his new home. Well, he lived here for his first few months... but I doubt he remembers that.

Since this little guy has become more mobile, he has been much happier. He recently learned how to crawl on his hands and knees and how to pull himself up to stand. This past week alone, I have really noticed a change in his mood and his ability to entertain himself. I realize now that he was kinda a cranky and demanding little baby before... I know there are much more difficult babies out there... but I also know from observing other babies that he definitely hasn't been the easiest!

He's so proud after pulling himself up onto Milo's crate.We are driving back to Provo on Tuesday and Sebastian will be eight months that day! I can't believe how fast he is growing up!

After a long and hard summer, we are a family again.Sebastian has been getting into everything.

Milo isn't happy... not sure what we will do about this.

Grandma isn't happy about the messes he's been making ;) Don't worry these cords are not plugged in but I probably shouldn't be letting him get into the habit of sucking on them.

I think I have one of the wiggliest babies in the world! He will NEVER sit still. I see other babies sitting on their parent's laps at church or letting people hold them without constantly trying to dive out of their arms and I can't believe it. At least this boy provides me with a daily workout!

I have spent the past four summers in Florida, New Jersey, Texas, and Tennessee. All of these places are hot and humid! It has been nice to be able to go outside everyday and be comfortable. This is one of the reasons I love San Diego! Here are some pictures of Sebastian at the park.

Seven months old

This little guy is 7 months today! He is learning new things all of the time and growing up so fast. Lately he has been doing a little scoot/army crawl across the floor and rolling around all over. Grandma taught him how to open and close his hand to the song "Popcorn Popping." He loves our dog, Milo. Whenever he sees him he will smile and giggle and try to pet him or get his tail. He is a total mama's boy. Most of the time he just wants me to hold him. When I give him to someone else he usually starts crying instantly. This can be cute but it also makes it more difficult for me. He has pretty much woken up about every 2-3 hours at night for his entire life. Over the past week he has improved. Last night he slept for 9 hours in a row! He has a super cute smile and laugh and he wiggles all of the time. I love him so much!
We are missing daddy a lot but we will see him in a few weeks!

Sebastian, Milo, and I are going to be in San Diego for the next seven weeks. Justin's office moved to a new city in Tennessee and they are living in a hotel (that doesn't allow dogs). So, we decided to drive home with my mom and spend some time with the grandparents.

We will miss Justin but he is going to come visit in a few weeks.

Sebastian was able to meet my friend Lindsey's cute baby, Owen. Owen is about a month older than Sebastian and Lindsey and I had our baby shower together while we were pregnant. Sebastian was a little cranky unfortunately...

He has been able to spend some time with uncle Scott who is home from BYU for the summer.

And he turned six months old the other day. Hooray!

We tried feeding Sebastian rice cereal for the first time. I am pretty sure we had it WAY too thick. He was completely disgusted with the flavor but very interested in eating the bowl and spoon. A word about my baby's name...

Most of the people this is directed toward probably don't look at my blog but I need to get this out anyway.
This picture is a little old but his expression sums up our feelings nicely. My baby's name is SEBASTIAN. For some reason, whenever I tell people his name they give me a funny look and act like it is the weirdest/worst name ever. After getting so many negative responses, I started to get a little scared to tell people his name. But I am going to stand proud and everyone just needs to get over it. I am sorry if any of you out there disapprove of this name but Justin and I love it. Sebastian also loves it.

And for the record, I don't love all of the names other people pick for their children but I try and keep that to myself. So please learn to love this boy's name because you will eventually realize it is very very cute!

The roll over

I was trying to get a picture of Sebastian on his tummy looking up. This took a lot of effort because he kept rolling right over onto his back...

Also, for some reason, whenever I put him in his gym to play with his toys, he immediately rolls over from his back to his belly. When he realizes he is on his belly, of course, he starts to cry because he hates tummy time. Then I put him on his back and he just rolls over again.

I have a silly boy! Here he is getting upset while on his tummy...

We went up to Logan to visit Justin's grandparents.

Then we went down to San Diego to visit my family. Here are some pictures of us at the Birch Aquarium. I thought maybe Sebastian would like the bright colors but he just slept in his stroller the whole time. Justin and I checked out the fish and enjoyed the pretty view.

One night we decided to take a million pictures of Sebastian before putting him to bed. He made this face a lot...

We have been in Knoxville, Tennesee for a little over a week and will be spending most of our summer here. I don't have any pictures yet but I'm sure I will take some. Tennessee is beautiful!

Nine Weeks

Sebastian had his two month appointment the other day. He's been growing!

Stats:

Height: 23.5 inches (70th percentile)
Weight: 11 lbs 9 ounces (45th percentile) - he shot way up from the 11th percentile at 2 weeks!

The doctor said he is a super strong little guy.

He still wakes up to eat every 2-3 hours... His longest stretch ever between feedings was 4 and a half. It's alright though, I LOVE being a mom! It makes me a little sad that he isn't the tiny little peanut he used to be, but it's fun to see him interact more. I guess we will just have to have another one some day!

He was born at 3:48pm on Thursday, January 7th. Six lbs fifteen ounces, nineteen inches. These pics are not in any particular order...

Sorry for the delay but these past five days have been CRAZY!!! I'll make this as short as possible. I got started on these tablets that are supposed to soften my cervix at 7pm Wednesday night. I was cramping all night and it was pretty miserable. Then at about 7am they started the Pitocin to make me have stronger contractions. I was about 2 1/2 centimeters dilated at that point. I got the epidural at 10am and was immediately pain free :). Then they broke my water and the contractions got way too out of control so they kept turning down the pitocin. After about another hour they had to stop the pitocin all together and I was contracting like crazy on my own. I thought I would have the baby late that night but I dilated way faster than they expected. I went from a 4 to a 9 1/2 in like three hours and they said it was almost time to push. I pushed for about 30 minutes (felt like five) and at 3:48pm on Thursday he was out!

He had some problems breathing so he had to go to the NICU for an hour but after that he was fine. So scary though. I finally got to see him again after three hours. We brought him home Saturday afternoon with some jaundice. He was getting really orange :(. We had to get him tested Sunday and then Monday and on Monday his levels were all of the sudden really bad so the doctor called us and sent us straight to the hospital. I was so freaked out and they were acting really nervous about him when we got there. He was under the lights over night and improved very fast and now he is fine and home again. We have to get him checked tomorrow and see how his levels are so pray for us that he will be fine. The poor little guy has been through a lot already.

So this has been the most emotional five days of my life and like any new mom I am insanely sleep deprived. I have been on such an emotional rollercoaster with his health problems but we are so crazy about this little guy. He is so precious and I can't believe I am a mom!

He's coming!

My blood pressure will not seem to go down so they have decided to induce me (even though I have no other symptoms of preeclampsia!). I'm going in sometime Wednesday night and will probably have him around Thursday evening. It's going to be a long process and they keep telling me the possibility of a C-section is higher with an induction. So I'm prepared for that possibility.

Justin and I frantically ordered all the things we still needed last week when we found out we would be having him early. The car seat just came today... thank heaven!

So I'm excited/very nervous about everything. I have decided to humble myself and post a picture finally. Don't mind the fact that my butt sticks out almost as much as my stomach. Oops! Here is me at 37+ weeks, only a couple of days before baby arrives. I'm huge! The doctor estimated his weight at 7.5-8.5 lbs (although he said they are usually wrong). Ahhh maybe it's a good thing he's coming a couple of weeks early.

Urine Collection?

I know my posts are super lame and pictureless!!! BUT has anyone else had to do this 24-hour urine collection? I have white-coat syndrome which means my blood pressure goes way up when I am at the doctor. At my last two appointments at the OB it was pretty dang high (kinda like my weight!). I try to explain to the nurse/doctor that it is because I get nervous at the doctor but I am pretty sure they don't believe me.

SO, Thursday my doctor said I had to go to the hospital right away for a non-stress test, go get my blood drawn for some labs (again), and collect my urine for a full 24 hours for testing. They need to make sure I don't have preeclampsia. Then, to make things worse, I had to ge the group B strep test thing early (pregnant women know what this is) and he checked my cervix in case I have to deliver early. It actually wasn't that bad but seriously, who needs extra and unexpected cervix checks? So I have to go in again Monday for all of the results. I am 90% sure that my nervous personality is to blame but we shall see. If I am wrong the little guy might be arriving a bit earlier than expected. I guess I better purchase that car seat soon just in case.

Okay, enough complaining about pregnancy! It really hasn't been as terrible as a lot of people have it and I know it will all be worth it when he finally shows up. So, on a different note.. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! We are spending Christmas in Bountiful with Justin's family. It is always sad not to be with your own family on Christmas but I am trying to be a good sport.

And blame my lack of pictures on my crazy pregnancy weight gain and swelling (even my nose is noticably bigger as Justin kindly pointed out).

Apparently the flu/swine flu are really bad for pregnant women. I guess they can develop complications much easier because their immune systems are weaker. So my obgyn gave me this list of symptoms telling me when I should call the doctor. Anyway, Justin and I were both pretty sick last week. We started off with little fevers and aches and then got coughs, congestion, etc. My mom and Justin kept nagging me to call the doctor because these symptoms happened to be on the list they gave me. I HATE calling/going to the doctor so I put it off until Thursday, when I still wasn't better.

I called the office and told the nurse my symptoms. She said I needed to go to the ER and get tested for Swine Flu. I was very surprised but I figured I needed to do what was best for baby. So I went in and told them to test me. They said since I was 28 weeks along, I needed to go to the labor and delivery floor to be tested. So I went where I was told. When I got there, they took me to a room and had me get in a gown and lay in a hospital bed. The whole time I was asking them "I probably don't have the Swine Flu, is this really necessary??" The nurses responded that any flu symptoms in pregnant women could be very serious and that this was standard procedure.

So I put the gown on (unwillingly) and waited. The nurse came in and strapped monitors to my belly so they could monitor the baby for a while. She asked me a million questions and took my temperature (which was normal). I felt so ridiculous being in there for what was probably just a cold. After about an hour of this, they called me doctor and he said I could go home! They didn't even test me for Swine Flu after all of that.

Anyway, I know that it was better than I went just in case. And it was comforting to know my sickness wasn't affecting the baby. But seriously???? The whole thing was absolutely ridiculous!!! And now I'm wondering how much my little hopsital stay is going to cost us...

I don't have school or a job currently so I have a lot of time to look at baby stuff online. I haven't bought anything substantial for baby yet because I get so confused every time I try to make decisions! There are a million things to buy: car seat, stroller, crib, cradle, clothes, other furniture, etc. There are also a million options for each item. The list seems to go on and on! I just don't know which brands and types of baby stuff are best.

So, if anyone out there has any suggestions about ANY of this stuff, please advise me! Why are decisions so difficult for me?

Going back in time... I went to my grandparent's lake house in Oregon with my family in August. It was fun relaxing with the fam. I have so many memories of that place- it is beautiful! Justin decided to stay in Texas and work so he couldn't come :( We made a stop at Pea Soup Andersen's on our way home (my face is being covered by my hair).
I tried to avoid being in pictures but here are some of the house and Erin, Sarah, and my dad.

We have been back in Provo for a couple of weeks now and Milo is up to his old habit of staring out the window. I think he' s a little bored- what do you think?

Baby Update

The first picture is from our 13 week ultrasound. I know it's really hard to see but it's the best I could do. My mom insisted even then that he has Justin's nose. He also is making a fist like he's trying to suck his thumb. He was only like 2 inches long at that point and now that I'm 21 1/2 weeks I think he's about 8 inches long! Woo hoo we are both growing -me maybe a little too much ;)

For those of you who haven't heard, we found out a few weeks ago that we are having a boy! The second ultrasound picture- if anyone can even make it out - is the proof!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are expecting a baby! I am almost 15 weeks, due January 23rd. I tried to post the baby's first ultrasound from a couple of weeks ago but I couldn't get it to work. I guess I'll just have to wait for pictures of the real thing!

This weekend we went down to the Riverwalk and had dinner for Nicole's 22nd birthday. We ate yummy Mexican food right by the river. After dinner we made a quick stop to see the Alamo and went home for some cake and ice cream.

Fiesta Texas

We went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas last weekend with Justin's cousin and another couple, Mike and Nicole. The weather was like San Diego weather so it was the perfect day to go. Justin decided he doesn't like amusement parks and pooped out after only a few rides. I just went on rides without him while he ate a turkey leg and found someone's old cup to refill. It was a pretty good day, but I'm glad we decided against the season pass.

FYI- These pictures were taken at the end of the day so we were pretty worn out!

Don't mess with Texas!

I knew when I started this blog that I was going to be a complete failure! I don't take pictures and I never have exciting events to talk about. I told Jessica (my sister-in-law) that I would post pics of our apartment in San Antonio, Texas. Caution, these are very boring pictures. We drove to San Antonio last week and Justin has started his summer selling. He's such a good little salesman.

I love our house in Provo but it is small and old and we have a lot of stuff in it. Here we have a ton of space and we didn't bring much to fill it up. Our walk-in closet here is pretty much the same size as our bedroom at home. We didn't even bring anything to put in it! It is so nice! We also have an extra bedroom/bathroom so come visit us!

Milo is getting settled in. He doesn't enjoy our cross-country drives every summer but he's a good sport. My only complaint is that Milo has to go potty like five times a day and we are on the third floor of our apartment building:( Hopefully my legs will get some muscles! Probably not.

The Bachelor SUCKS!!!!

I haven't really had too much interest in The Bachelor before this season. Even though I watched every single episode, I have to admit that I never really saw what was so great about Jason. I mean, he has a cute smile and he seems like a generally nice guy. He's no Robert Pattinson ;) Anyway, despite the forced professions of love and awkward kisses every five seconds, I actually enjoyed this season. Last night when I watched the season finale I had a perma-grin. I was so pleasantly surprised that he picked Melissa! Molly is cute and everything but she just isn't my favorite. Anyway, I was pretty satisfied with the evening. THEN, I watched the episode that followed, "After the final rose." Ummmm.... excuse me?? I was pissed!!!!!!! Jason is a very confused person. And what was with Molly's reaction to his news? She just giggled and looked very pleased with herself. I guess they deserve each other...

Milo's new pack

Justin LOVES our dog Milo. He came home yesterday with a new present for him- a doggie back pack! We put water bottles in the pockets and took him for a walk with it. He is SO much better because he doesn't pull us when he has the back pack on. I think it's because he is really confused. It is a little big on him.

I guess this is what happens when you wait to have kids!

Cancun!

We went on an Apx trip to Cancun in January (this post is a little late). It was really nice to get away from the freezing cold weather in Utah. We stayed at the Fiesta Americana Condesa. It was fun to hang out with our fellow Apx-ers, drink endless pina coladas, and RELAX!

We rented a car and went with some friends to the Chichen Itza- the Mayan ruins nearby. The little girl is Justin's cousin's cute daughter.
